Senator Rick Santorum was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President in 2012 and 2016 – winning the 2012 Iowa caucuses, 10 additional states and nearly 4 million votes. Prior to his campaigns for president, Rick served two terms in both the House of Representatives and Senate, where he gained a reputation as one of the nation’s leading government reformers, pro-life advocates, and national security experts.

Rick Santorum is the author of the 2005 New York Times bestseller It Takes a Family, American Patriots: Answering the Call to Freedom, and Blue-Collar Conservatives: Recommitting to an America that Works. Rick and his wife Karen are also the co-authors of Bella’s Gift that chronicles the inspiring story of life with the Santorums’ special-needs youngest child. Bella was born with a condition called Trisomy 18, and she wasn’t expected to survive her first birthday. Beating all the odds, Bella will turn 11 in May of 2019.

Matt Schlapp has more than twenty years of government, corporate and political experience, beginning his executive branch experience in 2001 as President George W. Bush’s Deputy Assistant and Political Director. During his tenure at the White House, Schlapp advised the President, the Vice President, members of the cabinet, senior White House staff and maintained extensive contact with members of Congress and federal agencies. Matt is currently serving on the boards of The Boys and Girls Club and 60 Plus Foundation. He also serves on the Eisenhower Memorial Advisory Committee. He previously served on the board of the National Association of Manufacturers, St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Administration at Wichita State University, the University of Kansas Washington Intern Program, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Political Affairs Committee. Schlapp is a principal at Cove Strategies, a boutique government and public relations firm he and his wife, Mercedes Schlapp, founded in 2009 and is Chairman of the American Conservative Union.

Nick Nicholson is a Managing Director at Berkadia – a commercial real estate lender and advisor. Mr. Nicholson has originated debt and equity financing for non-profit and investor owned projects across the country since 2005. Nick’s financing experience includes multifamily, senior housing and hospital/healthcare properties. Prior to Berkadia Nick was a managing director at Cain Brothers as well as a Vice President in the asset management groups at Lehman Brothers and Bank of America. Nick is a graduate of Middlebury College and Georgetown University.
Edmund Moy

Board Member, Former Director, United States Mint

Ed Moy was the 38th director of the United States Mint from 2006-2011. He has also served in The White House as a special assistant to the president and as the director of a federal regulatory office. In addition to the public sector, he has been a corporate executive and serves as a director or advisor to several company boards including ICOx Innovations (ICOX:OTC). Ed also serves on the board of regents for Trinity International University and as a fellow of the Center for Presidential Transition at the Partnership for Public Service. He has served on the board of directors of Christianity Today International. He is a frequent commentator on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
Montse Alvarado

Montse Alvarado is the Executive Director and Vice President of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. With a background in public policy and campaigns, she has served in various roles at Becket since 2009 leading initiatives in development, communications, strategy and operations that have helped secure religious liberty victories against the contraceptive mandate, protect the rights of churches to choose their leaders, and safeguard the free speech of crisis pregnancy centers and religious groups on campus. She was recently profiled by the Wall Street Journal’s Weekend Edition with the following introduction: “A defender of all religion, on the front lines of America’s culture wars.”
Montse has a Masters from the George Washington University and a B.A. from Florida International University. She served on the Montgomery County Commission for Women in Maryland with a platform advocating for paid sick leave and preventing teen dating violence. She currently serves on the board of the Patients’ Rights Action Fund, the leading advocate against the legalization of assisted suicide; is a lay consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Religious Liberty Committee; a member of the President’s Advisory Counsel of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students; on the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board for the Philos Project; and serves on the GIVEN Institute’s Advisory Council. Although not an attorney, she “plays one on TV” advocating for Becket clients on major television and radio networks including Univision, CNN en Español, Telemundo, Fox Business, and EWTN. Born in Mexico City, she is fluent in Spanish and French and is a competitive jazz and classical vocalist.

Ambassador Jim Nicholson is an attorney, served in the Army and retired as a Colonel, led the Republican Party as Chairman from 1997 to 2000. Between 2001 and 2005 Nicholson served as United States Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican) and was knighted by Pope John Paul II with the Grand Cross for his leadership on human rights issues and standing for religious freedom. He continued his government service as the United States Secretary of Veteran Affairs from 2005 to 2007 and is a distinguished graduate of West Point, where he was recently elected Vice-Chair of West Point board of visitors.

Prior to joining Cathio, Matt was an Executive Director with Corsica Partners, a global executive search and organizational staffing firm providing comprehensive talent acquisition services to f500 and high growth technology companies. Previously, Matt served as a principal with GreenSpring Strategies, a D.C. based search firm that he co-founded, serving both public and private sector clients. Mr. Marcolini has been responsible for business development, strategic account management, strategic planning, and search fulfillment for key roles.

Ryan M. Thomas is responsible for product development and is Vice President of the Board of Directors. Prior to co-founding Cathio, Ryan was the Global Director of News Operations for EWTN News, Catholic News Agency (CNA), ACI Prensa, ACI Digital, ACI Stampa and ChurchPop which he helped grow to be the largest religious news service in the world. He oversaw news operations in 8 countries and 5 languages while living in Lima, Peru, Santiago, Chile, Rome, Italy, Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, California. He’s also the co-founder of Epiphany Ventures which leverages immersive technology to produce cultural, historical and educational exhibitions.

He has appeared on television and radio in English and Spanish as an expert in social media and digital strategy. In addition, he has written pieces that have appeared in the Washington Post, National Catholic Register, Catholic News Agency, ACI Prensa, and Harvard Business School. In 2013, he was the lead translator on Pope Francis’ New York Times Bestseller: On Heaven and Earth and is currently finishing his first book.

Before joining CNA, Ryan worked at the Vanguard Group where he was recruited for their Leadership Development Program and resigned in 2009 as a High Net Worth Sales Manager.

Fluent in Spanish and studying Italian, Ryan also studied Economics and Finance at Regis University, attended Georgetown University’s Fund for American Studies and is a graduate of IESE Business School’s Advanced Management Program (AMP) in Media and Entertainment.

Enrique Elias Dupuy has been dedicated to the Catholic Association’s pastoral and cultural initiatives for more than 30 years. He worked in Latin American Church institutions, and has been active in the Church in Rome since 1997. He was a member of the Pontifical Council for the Laity from 2008-2013, which is the Vatican Office for the Catholic Lay Associations and Movements.

He helped organize and participated in many international Catholic events, and has extensive knowledge of religious and Christian realities around the world. This includes decades-long working relationships with the center and peripheries of the Catholic Church. Enrique is dedicated to developing new creative, technological, and cultural solutions for Faith-based people and organizations.

He’s led dozens of development projects across his three decades in tech, working alongside leading partners like Microsoft and within a diverse industry set including healthcare, fintech, SaaS, AI and e-learning.

As Director of Technology, Andy pulls on his experience to build and deploy technologies using business-driven, agile processes. In his spare time, Andy sits on the Board of NAFI CT, a multi-service agency that provides programming and support for families and children with developmental needs.

Shane Giblin is a fund-raising executive whose experience has primarily been with the Catholic Church. He currently serves as the Chief Advancement Officer at St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange County, California, where he successfully completed a $120 M capital campaign and was instrumental in organically increasing the organization’s email list by 554%. Prior to arriving at St. Michael’s Shane spent seven years creating and growing a national donor base as the Director of Development at the Dynamic Catholic Institute (DCI). While at DCI he increased annual donation revenue by 2,204% from 2009 to 2015. In 2014, Shane was recognized for his vision and success when he was named to the FOCUS 30 Under 30 list. Shane holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
